To meet the needs of paddlers of varying body types, ARE Tahiti has designed a V1 rudderless canoe with all the performance of the V1 Marara but with a slightly wider hull and cockpit—a better fit for paddlers roughly 180 pounds and over.

The ARE Tahiti V1 MAKO, which is a great canoe for both enjoyment and competition, will be delivered to the U.S. and Hawaii in early 2023. ARE Outrigger World, exclusive ARE Tahiti distributor for North America and Hawaii, will also sponsor the ARE Outrigger World Sprint Challenge, a series of races from Tahiti and Samoa to the mainland U.S. The V1 Mako has been chosen as the canoe of choice for these sprints.
